37 Years of Marital Bliss!

January 28, 2010 | by Dana Collins

Well, maybe not marital bliss but more like 37 years of learning, growing, sharing, struggling, loving and by the sheer grace of God surviving the tough times. There's a saying in our family, when facing a challenge, that goes: "If it were easy, everybody would be doing it". This certainly applies, in our case, to a commitment to marriage. Early in our marriage we met challenges that we chose not to face and we "threw in the towel", taking the easy route. But God had another plan. By putting God in the middle of our marriage and using His Word as a guide Jeep and I are able to say that our marriage is good and that we are living in total commitment to our marriage for a lifetime.

Today on our 37th wedding anniversary, I would like to encourage anyone facing challenges in his or her marriage. With God all things are possible, even a restored marriage. (Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.)

God has blessed us abundantly for not doing what was easiest, but instead relying on Him to do what seemed to be impossible.

To God be glory and praise.

  • Congratulations! My husband and I will have our 37th anniversary June 3. I purchased my first JC (a beautiful big cross necklace and earrings) for my college graduation in 1992 (yes, I was 38) and many other items afterwards. Your commitment and Christian love inspires and encourages many. God is good! | Belinda from Tupelo
  • Thanks for the wonderful story about your marriage and God's plan for you even when you "threw in the towel." It makes a difference when you know God is in control and you relax and let Him lead.... it sure makes everything a lot "easier" (even if it's not the way YOU would have done it -- ha ha). I love your jewelry and have been a long time customer, buying my first piece of your jewelry at a little place in Cartersville, Georgia called Martha Jane's Fudge Shop. Thanks for your inspiration. | Patty
